On & Off The Mat

Safety & Culture

Hard training and careful supervision are not opposites. Here is how the room is run.

In The Room

A black belt coach is on the mat for every session. Athletes are matched by size and experience for live rounds, not by who is standing next to them.

Feedback is given to the athlete directly, and parents hear from us when something needs saying rather than at the end of a term.

Hydration

Water and electrolytes at every session. Sessions run up to two and a half hours and athletes work the whole time.

Injuries

Anything that happens on the mat is assessed on the spot, written down, and told to the parent the same day. An athlete showing strain comes out of live rounds before it becomes an injury. Coming back takes a parent's sign-off.

Waivers & Insurance

A signed liability waiver is required before the first session. GDA operates under Rebellion MMA's gym insurance, with additional coverage carried by the head coach.

Conduct

Respect for coaches, training partners, and the room is not optional. How an athlete carries themselves off the mat counts the same as how they train on it.
